Job Description

Job Title: Contracting/Purchasing Officer

Summary

The Contracting Officer supports the procurement function by acquiring goods and services and administering contracts across multiple departments. This role manages moderate to complex procurements, negotiates terms, and ensures compliance with organizational policies and audit requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage sourcing, bidding, evaluation, and issuance of purchase orders
  • Negotiate contract terms, pricing, and specifications with suppliers
  • Conduct cost and price analyses and recommend best-value options
  • Administer contracts and purchase orders through completion
  • Prepare procurement justifications and maintain audit-ready documentation
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external vendors
  • Process and reconcile purchasing transactions, including credit card activity

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of purchasing/contracting experience, or 6 years of related experience
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred

  • Advanced degree or professional procurement certification
  • Experience in regulated or government procurement environments
